Botanische Exkursionen (BIO237) – Herbstsemester 2012: Die botanischen Exkursionen fördern die Kenntnis der einheimischen Pflanzen- und Pilzwelt. Sie sind offen für Studierende der Biologie und anderer Studienrichtungen. Auf den Exkursionen werden nicht nur Namen vermittelt, es werden auch Merkmale der Arten erläutert sowie ökologische und biologische Zusammenhänge aufgezeigt. Es finden vier Exkursionen statt: Termin 29. 9. bis 10. 11. 2012. Two Master student positions at the IMCR are available, starting October 2012. Requirements: Basic skills in molecular biology and yeast genetics. High motivation and dedication. The successful candidate will be enrolled in the Master Program of the Faculty of Mathematic and Natural Sciences of the University of Zurich, operate in a stimulating international environment and have access to state-of-the-art facilities. The candidate will be trained to advanced biochemical and molecular biology techniques using yeast as model system and attend specialized lectures and courses that are part of the requirements to obtain the Master Degree in Cancer Biology.

Das Institut für Mathematik bietet ab Herbstsemester 2012 das neue Nebenfach (30 KP) Angewandte Wahrscheinlichkeit und Statistik an. Es richtet sich an Studierende, die Interesse an stochastischen Methoden und Modellierung haben. Das Nebenfach dient auch als Vorbereitung für den spezialisierten Masterstudiengang „Biostatistics“.
